Cloud computing is accessing computing services over the internet. But these services are different according to the client’s needs. As some business needs a private server or some needs both public and private. This article will explain the different types of cloud computing according to deployment models, their advantages and disadvantages. Cloud computing is mainly divided into four main types. Types of cloud deployment models as the base on the location are below.
- Public cloud
- Private cloud
- Hybrid cloud
- Community cloud
According to the service base, the cloud is divided into the following types.
- IaaS (Infrastructure-as-a-Service)
What is Public Cloud?
Public cloud services are provided by third-party service providers to the general public. These services are easily accessible to clients. Some companies provide these services free but some give services as clients pay for the services. These services are not suitable for organizations, because they are not as safe as a private service.
Public cloud service provider companies
Advantages of public cloud
Some advantages of cloud computing are below
The most important feature of the public cloud is cost-effective. It shares the same resources with many clients. There is no need for a different system for each client as compared to the private cloud.
The public cloud provides a large number of resources from different places to different users. If a system fails then they connect clients to another one.
Public clouds can be easily integrated with private clouds.
These services can be provided from anywhere through the internet. There is no location limitation and the physical attachment for customers.
Public cloud scalability can be increased or decreased as the user pays for service. It is the most important feature.
Disadvantages of public cloud
Some disadvantages of the public cloud model are below:
The performance of the public cloud depends on the internet speed of clients. If they have a slow internet then obviously the speed will be low.
Public cloud services are shared among different users. So there are vulnerabilities in services as compared to private cloud.
Customization of services in a public cloud is not possible.
What is private cloud?
Private cloud is similar to the public cloud but in a private cloud, a dedicated system is owned by an organization. They have full control therefore the security is high then public cloud. Most of the origination owns the servers privately.
Advantages of private cloud
Some benefits of private cloud service are below:
High Security and Privacy
Server is owned by a single company and they are not accessible for the public. Therefore they have high security and privacy.
If we compare private cloud to public cloud then we can say it is more controllable then public cloud. Organizations have full hardware and software control for the system because they pay more for the service.
Private clouds are more efficient than public clouds because they are much expensive as compared to the public cloud and their services are better than the public clouds.
Disadvantages of private cloud
Some disadvantages of a private cloud are below:
Organizations need high skilled experts for the deployment of services.
These services are costly as organizations need the system privately. They must pay more money if they need additional systems and services.
Private cloud is available locally.it is difficult to scale them globally.
What is Hybrid cloud?
Hybrid cloud is a combination of both public and private clouds. It is useful for organizations to use the hybrid cloud (public and private cloud). They host their important and secure data on private servers and the application that interacts with customers on public clouds.
Advantages of Hybrid clouds
Some benefits of hybrid clouds are below.
It provides the scalability of both public and private clouds.
Security is very high level in hybrid clouds
If we use the public server in the hybrid mode then it will be cost-effective.
Disadvantages of Hybrid clouds
Disadvantages of hybrid cloud are below
There may network issues that come in a combination with two clouds.
It is much complex to combine two clouds with each other.
What is Community cloud?
Community cloud services are shared among a group of organizations. The services may be managed by an organization or third-party service providers. It is cost-effective but less secure because everyone can get access to data.
